The Role

As we gear up for V26, we’re on the hunt for Vintage Senior Cellar Hands to join our vintage team at our Gimblett Gravels Winery in Hawkes Bay!  

• Complete senior and/or more complex tasks in our winery 
• Coach/advise junior team members and act as their point of contact   
• In some instances, you may be required to lead a team as well 

We have multiple vacancies available and they are seasonal, fixed term roles. Typically, our vintages run from mid-February to late-April and we're looking for teams to support our Vintage period and post-Vintage operations. Because of the nature of our business, our vintage dates might change slightly, but we will always keep you up-to-date with the latest information as we get it.    

About you

• 2+ Vintage experiences within wineries
• Capability in one or more core cellar operations, such as crush, RDV or flotation
• Sound problem solver with the ability to do so under pressure 
• Physically fit, reliable and a team player with safety at the forefront
• Speak English very well, give and follow instructions in English too 
• Able to provide guidance to more junior team members 
• For several of our roles, we'll need experienced team members who would prefer a night shift

What else to expect?

• Along with a great hourly rate, we have a number of additional benefits to add to your package!    
• You’ll need to be available to work shifts of up to 10 hours, 6 days per week, at vintage peak   
• You need to be prepared to undertake a pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol test

Working a winery vintage is not an easy task - we work long hours, and it’s an extremely fast-paced environment. 

Our state-of-the-art winery is situated on the edge of the Gimblett Gravels, specialising in the production of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot as well as other varietals. The proximity of the winery to our vineyards allowing for fruit to be processed within minutes of being picked with gentle machinery allowing exceptional flexibility and quality control.
