Our grapes come from over 6,000 hectares of planted vineyards and blended in our wineries across three of the renowned wine regions - Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay, and Gisborne - and our wines are exported globally. From grape to glass, we’re passionate about wine and we love what we do!
The Role
As we gear up for Vintage 2026, we have opportunities for Laboratory Technicians to join our vintage team at our Villa Maria Hawkes Bay winery.
- Collect samples and complete analysis in our laboratory
- Grape maturity analysis
- Sampling and testing ferments
- Other analyses consistent with industry best practice
These will be full time, fixed term roles to support with our seasonal Vintage requirements, which are typically between February and April and may vary.
About you
Whether you’ve been studying a relevant qualification or you bring several Vintages experience in a Lab - we have a role for you!
- Laboratory experience within chemistry (winery experience will be beneficial)
- A practical approach
- Thrive under pressure and working to tight deadlines
- We work under high pressure and tight deadlines during vintage, so you’ll need to thrive in that environment, work well in a team and be physically fit
- Available to work shifts of up to 12 hours, 6 days per week, at vintage peak
- Be prepared to undertake a pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol test

Our inery is situated on the edge of the Gimblett Gravels, specialising in the production of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot as well as other varietals. We might be bragging, but our winery lab is industry-leading, with state-of-the-art technology and a proud team who boasts proficiency scores in the top percentile in the country. Our lab has it all, and a dedicated, accurate team is at the core of it.
