Excitement is growing at Indevin as we gear up for the most exhilarating time of the year: vintage!

About Us

Home to Villa Maria, our vision is to be one of the world’s great wine companies, sharing the best of New Zealand wine with the world.

Our grapes come from over 6,000 hectares of planted vineyards and blended in our wineries across three of the renowned wine regions - Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay, and Gisborne - and our wines are exported globally. From grape to glass, we’re passionate about wine and we love what we do!

The Role

As we gear up for Vintage 2027, we’re on the hunt for our Vintage Assistant Production Winemakers to join seasonal teams at our Marlborough wineries.

For the team at the heart of this annual experience, there’s much more to be made in addition to wine.  You'll make great friends (it'll feel like family by the end), good money, new skills and incredible memories.  That's just a taste of what you can look forward to making when you're part of our vintage crew.

Working in a winery during vintage is not an easy task - we work long hours, and it’s an extremely fast-paced environment. You would be required to apply your vintage experience and winery skills to:

  • Support winery operations across day or night shifts
  • Work with harvest intake intake, floatation, propagation, and dispatch during vintage
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve harvest goals while ensuring top-quality standards are met
  • Participate in blend, fining and ferment tasting as required
  • Be actively involved in juice and ferment monitoring
  • Operate with a safety-first focus in all tasks and undertakings

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring -

  • At least three vintage of winery experience in the same or similar job
  • Prior Vintage supervision is a plus
  • Have a strong systems focus, working with our Winemakers and daily planner to assist in developing and updating cellar operations
  • A natural problem solver — someone who sees a snag before it is a snag, and sorts it
  • Be physically fit, reliable and a team player
  • Have safety at the forefront, living our Safety by Choice, not by Chance value

This is a full time, fixed term, seasonal role. Typically, our Vintage Assistant Winemakers will work from February to April. Because of the nature of our business, our vintage dates might change slightly, but we will always keep you up to date with the latest information as we get it.

What else to expect?

  • Along with a great hourly rate, we have a number of additional benefits to add to your package!
  • You’ll need to be available to work shifts of up to 12 hours, 6 days per week, at vintage peak
  • You need to be prepared to undertake a pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol test

On Offer

  • Bring your friends and experience the magic of Vintage in New Zealand!
  • A hearty, healthy lunch every day, as well as morning and afternoon tea
  • Free travel to and from your accommodation to our site each day
  • Night shift allowances where applicable
  • Gain experience you can transfer to different Vintages across the globe!
  • Learn from a positive, tight-knit, experienced team
  • Step into an active, fun team focused and collaborative role
  • Create a product that will bring joy to the world!
  • If you are an Indevin returnee, you will be eligible for a returnee bonus
  • The occasional wine tasting!
