The Role
Hands on laboratory role supervising a team of 1-2 at our Hawke’s Bay winery -
• Partner with our winemakers and teams to test samples throughout the winemaking process, from grape to glass
• Analyses of chemical and physical properties of grapes and wine
• Manage the workflow in the laboratory and organise the team’s priorities
• Provide training and support to the team and coordinate rosters and cover
• Compile quality control data and analysis, problem solve and improve the quality of results
• Planning, ordering and management of the laboratory
This role is based at our state-of-the-art winery situated on the edge of the Gimblett Gravels, specialising in the production of Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The proximity of the winery to our vineyards allowing for fruit to be processed within minutes of being picked with gentle machinery allowing exceptional flexibility and quality control.
About you
In addition to previous experience managing a laboratory, you will bring -
• A positive, collaborative supervisory approach
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with teams across the winery
• Aptitude to utilise Excel and learn our bespoke winery system
• Quality control experience
• Passion to support your team to be their best and to improve and optimise the laboratory
